EMEMBER Ruffa
Gutierrez’s supposed condescending reac-tion to newly-crowned Bb. Pilipinas-World
Janina San Miguel’s triumph in the recently-concluded Bb. Pilipinas pageant?
Janina, who is only 17, received a lot of flak for the way
she answered a question asked by one of the judges during the pageant.
"I was misquoted," clarified Ruffa, defending herself from
the criticism that she was "too hard" on Janina. "I don’t even know the girl.
Nor did I watch that particular pageant. Kaya wala akong karapatang mag
comment. Although I don’t find it wrong to make pangaral that a beauty
contestant should also improve herself. Iba rin kasi ‘yung witty ka,
well-versed on any topic and with knowledge on current events. Ma-a-acquire
mong lahat ang mga ito sa pag-a-aral.
"As a matter of fact," she added, "I’m currently a student at
the School of Fashion and The Arts, taking a crash course in fashion
merchandising and development.
"The other day, I joined 30 students from the University of
the Philippines on a field trip to Josie Natori’s (the Filipino fashion designer
who is a success in the fashion industry in New York) factory. Napakarami
kong natutunan sa dalawang oras na nandun ako."

Last Friday, Ruffa sent us a text message to inform us that
through her Tito Ricky Lo (entertainment editor of The Philippine Star), she was
able to talk to Janina on the cellphone. She cleared up things with her, Ruffa
said.
"We should help her and not put her down," she said.
Ruffa is currently in Hong Kong for the opening of the new
Louis Vuitton house with Tatler editor Anton San Diego and Preview creative
director Vince Uy.

Yeng Constantino, grand scholar of the first "Pinoy Dream
Academy," admitted that RJ Jimenez, a fellow housemate, did try to woo her. But
she said she discouraged RJ from pursuing his suit as she thinks she is still
too young for a serious commitment. Besides, her dad, who works as an assistant
librarian at the Ateneo University, is against the idea of her having a
boyfriend at 19.
"Besides," she added, "gusto ko rin munang mag-concentrate
sa aking singing career. Matagal kong pinangarap ang maging isang
professional singer at recording star. Ngayong naabot ko na ito, I
want to make the most of it."
Star Records "platinum" artist Yeng (real name: Josefina) is
keeping her fingers crossed that she will again set the country by storm with
her new album, "Journey."
Some of the songs in the album are her own compositions.
"Sa bawat kanta na ginawa ko, sa bawat lyric na
sinulat ko, I make sure na ramdam na ramdam talaga ‘yung emosyon ko ‘Yung
puso."
The album’s carrier single is "Ikaw Lang Talaga." Other cuts
in the album are "Di na Ganon," "Promise," "Pili Ka Lang," "Tao Lang Ako," "What
About Us," "Himig ng Pag-ibig," "If You Go," "Bakit Nga Ba?," "Why Can’t You," "Tala"
and "Habambuhay," which is the theme song of the Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo
starrer, "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo."
Yeng is also busy with her weekly stint in "ASAP," the Sunday
noontime program of ABS CBN, and her singing tour in and out of the country.

We asked Yeng if she still has a soft spot for RJ, an engineering graduate
from the UST who is into singing and composing.
