Behind the Philippine success of worldwide phenomena such as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and Mandy Moore, as well as renowned Filipino artists such as Bencab and Anita Magsaysay Ho, stands a company with a novel approach to ensuring the success of their events.

For more than half a century, Pioneer established a solid history of service to the Philippine community through its life and non-life insurance products and services. Having sponsored and insured numerous concerts, exhibits, shows, and events of local and foreign artists, the company by way of its support for culture and arts has also contributed to the growth and awareness of the Filipino soul.

"Pioneer has consistently aimed to become a model Filipino enterprise, which is why we have sought to live our corporate values — excellence, integrity and humanity — in the way we address the insurance needs of our market," says Lorenzo O. Chan Jr., president and CEO of Pioneer Life.

"However, servicing the Filipino should not simply be limited to ensuring their safety and security," Chan continued, "For us, it extends to promoting and supporting the key pillars of a community, one of which is the Pinoy’s appreciation of and contribution to culture, both globally and locally."

Through this thrust, the company has successfully provided various kinds of coverage for musical and cultural events as the insurer of large-scale concerts such as The Beyonce Experience last November, and Christina Aguilera’s before that. It also provided the required coverage for Mandy Moore’s concerts in the Philippines in 2003.

Pioneer has likewise covered major art exhibitions such as a retrospective by National Artist Benedicto Reyes Cabrera or Bencab, and a rare exhibit by painter Anita Magsaysay-Ho.

Beyond the coverage it provides, Pioneer also supports worthwhile causes through the events it supports.

"The Love Out Loud auction earlier this year is an excellent example of an event that does not merely promote the arts, but also promotes change in the way the public views and interacts with people who are born with hearing impairment," Betty D. Medialdea, Pioneer Insurance SVP said.

The Love Out Loud auction was composed of 50 works of art by likes BenCab, Magsaysay-Ho, Juvenal Sanso, Napoleon Abueva and manuel Baldemor, which was done primarily through silent bidding at the main gallery of the Cultural Center of the Philippines from Feb. 1-8.

In the near future, Pioneer is looking forward to coverage of a fashion show and gala dinner by Josie Natori of the Natori Company.
