6 die in 2 mishaps
A FAMILY of four was killed and two others were hurt in a
vehicular accident at the Star Tollways in Lipa City Saturday night.
The fatalities were identified as Jobelle, Ediza, Nelly, and
Sam Dominic, all surnamed Magpan-tay, and the wounded as Mary Grace Reanzares
and Samuel Magpantay. All were residents Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas.
The victims were heading home to Lipa from Tagaytay city when
their car went out of control and turned turtle several times. The fatalities
were taken to nearby hospitals but Jobelle died on the way and the rest while
being treated.
In Pasig City, Abigael Encarnacion Parong and companion
Christine Orquita died in a two-vehicle collision Easter Sunday at the Bagong
Ilog flyover. Parong reportedly lost control of her car which crossed over to
the other lane and collided with a van occupied by Josefino Macat and Elmer
Belardo. All four were taken to the Pineda Hospital. The women died and the men

Soldier killed
in NPA ambush
A NEW People's Army ambush killed Army Cpl. Brenstone Alvarez
and wounded Sgt. Rizalino Ramos on Good Friday at the boundary of Tubo, Abra;
Quirino, Ilocos Sur; and Besao, Mountain Province, a belated report to Camp
Crame said.
Both victims were detailed with the Army's 5th Infantry
Division. Their group was on patrol in the area when the NPAs ambushed them at

5 policemen
facing kidnap raps
FIVE policemen are facing kidnapping charges after they
reportedly snatched trader Akmad Hadji Manan in Meycauayan, Bulacan and asked
his wife to ransom him for P700,000.
Senior Supt. Nicanor Bartolome, PNP spokesman, said SPO3
Rolando Navarette, PO2 Virgilio del Rosario, PO2 Enrique Areja, and PO1 Joemar
Julian were captured by a CIDG team in Muzon, San Jose del Monte last Wednesday.
Only P03 Manny Co, formerly with the PDEA in Central Luzon managed to escape.
His four cohorts are all assigned with the Drug Enforcement Unit of the SJDM,
Bulacan Police. Recovered from the suspects were P295,000 in ransom money, four
firearms, four police IDs, a brick of dried marijuana, shabu, and six LTO
