Cheating machinery
in place outside Luzon?

GENUINE Opposition candidates Loren Legarda and Allan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday night said the "cheating machinery" is in place in the Visayas and Mindanao to ensure the victory of Team Unity.

Cayetano told 3,000 to 4,000 supporters in Dasmariñas, Cavite, that he received reports that the machinery used to cheat in 2004 is intact.

Legarda said a vilification campaign through text messages and the internet has been re-launched against her.

She said the messages claimed she filed a bill at the 12th Congress blocking salary increases for teachers.

"Obviously there’s no such a bill. Yung inimbento nila nung 2004, they’re recycling it now," she said.

Cayetano said Malacañang has been meeting with local government units and "they’ve been putting up parallel groups just like what they did in 2004."

He also said the administration has put up a "bonus system" for those who could deliver votes for TU candidates.

"Iba iba yung bonus level, yung actual amounts di pa namin nalalaman… like for example, sa local ginagawa yan per precinct, per barangay… Kunwari may P500 per mayor or vice mayor, parang ganun yung style but in a much bigger basis nationwide," he said.

"Ang kanilang ginawang bonus system ay usual sa local pero first time ko narinig sa national," he said. "Una yung 12-0. Pag nag 12-0 may bonus sila sa area nila."

He said there is a second bonus for a 9-3 victory in favor of the TU candidates.

"Then the last yung pag ako yung dinaya," he said but did not elaborate.

He said GO has been reviewing fund releases by Malacañang since January until the first week of March.

"We’ve found out na maraming pondong nailalabas para ilalaglag ang mga oposisyon. We consider that cheating because the use of government funds to campaign for a certain group is cheating," he said. – JP Lopez
