Aspiring stars battle it out
to be first ‘Pinoy Idol’

DRAWING a huge anticipation for the unfolding of the biggest, most ambitious and much-awaited reality talent search in the country, GMA-7’s "Pinoy Idol" will finally kick-off its grand debut on April 5, right after "Pinoy Records."

After scouring the archipelago for the prime batch of aspirants, "Pinoy Idol" will commence its selection among the 179 hopefuls who received gold tickets to battle it out in the competition. The nationwide auditions screened the best bunch of "Idol" contenders for the launch of the local franchise of "American Idol" here in the country.

GMA Network, Inc., who holds the airing rights of the localized "Idol" franchise, guarantees its viewers an impressive presentation of the popular talent search and a competitive roster of "Pinoy Idol" aspirants. It also boasts of acquiring the license of other Fremantle shows like "Celebrity Duets" and "Whammy" that created raves in the country.

Expect Raymond Gutierrez to pomp his unique brand of hosting skills in the course of the show. Being the cushion of the not-so-fortunate hopefuls, Raymond will further build connection with the contestants and convey his ingenuous advice to them.

Armed with their forthright critiques and compliments to the contestants, the three judges are well-respected star maker and talent-manager Wyngard Tracy; one of the country’s most sought-after singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid; and well-loved singer-actress-host Jolina Magdangal, Their snide remarks and brutally frank observations will leave an imprint to all hopefuls in their quest to be the crowned first "Pinoy Idol."

"Pinoy Idol" is the biggest platform for all Filipinos who dream of gaining foothold in the music industry. This talent search is the venue for everyone who aspires of becoming the next singing sensation to break records and create headlines. The chosen ones who passed numerous and painstaking auditions and eliminations should put every ounce of their energy and talent to survive each round and score an opportunity to win the competition.
