‘She’s really topless as Dyesebel but you won’t see
her boobs as they’re protected by her long tresses.’ |
No breast exposure
D J MO and Rufa Mae
Quinto were out of the country so Arnell Ignacio of "Go Bingo" and yours truly
took their place in the Central Jury portion of "Showbiz Central" last Sunday.
In the "Hot Seat" was Jean Garcia, who begged us not to ask her anymore
questions about Polo Ravales since it’s already coming out of her ears. She
plays a good role in "Dyesebel" as the oppressed mother of Marian Rivera. Will
she be convincing in a non-villain role since she’s more noted for the
contravida roles she has done before?
"My role in ‘Dyesebel’ has been expanded compared to past
‘Dyesebel’ movies," she says. "It will be revealed that before I married Wendell
Ramos, I was also a mermaid. I was given my own two feet, but in exchange for
the loss of my fish tail, all my memory of being a sirena was erased. So
noong nagkaanak ako kay Wendell, what came out was a baby mermaid that
the people in our village, led by Chanda Romero and Andrea del Rosario, consider
as a salot so they want to kill her. What I did is pinaanod ko na lang
siya sa dagat and she was found by Lotlot de Leon who takes good care of her
hanggang magdalaga siya. Ako naman, I leave our town at pagbalik ko
years later, super rich na ako and I return to take revenge on the
people na umapi sa amin ng pamilya ko. I will meet Marian, who by this
time is called Isabel na and have feet na rin, without us knowing
that she’s my daughter, the baby sirena. Napakaganda ng story and I
really want to thank GMA-7 as they make sure kapag natapos ang isang show
ko, meron agad kasunod. ‘Dyesebel’ is my fifth show with them after ‘Majika,’
‘Atlantika,’ ‘Impostora’ and ‘La Vendetta’."
Is she aware a lot of people are waiting for the showing of
the movie she just finished shooting with Polo, "Loving You"?
"I know. Everywhere I go, people ask me when our movie will
be shown. It’s good maganda ang feedback. This is the only movie where I
consented to do a hot love scene."
So Polo must really be someone special for her?
"Special as a friend, that’s all. Kung may relasyon kami,
aaminin ko naman. But we’re really just good friends."
How’s the relationship of her daughter Jennica with Mart
Escudero?
"They’re close, but ewan ko kung sila na nga. They
just did ‘Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita,’ now they’re cast again in Regine
Velasquez’ ‘Kim Sam Soon’. Jennica was about to enroll sa college this
coming June, but since she got this assignment, ayun, wait na lang uli
ang studies niya. Ako naman, I don’t meddle with the love life of my
daughter. She’s very responsible and I know she’ll not do anything na gaya ng
ginawa ko when I was her age."

Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes were featured in the "Don’t
Lie to Me" portion, with Dingdong as the subject and Marian acting as the
host-interrogator who asked Dingdong some intimate questions. The most
intriguing question was if Dingdong was affected by the love scenes they did
before and if he gets jealous when other guys hover around Marian. Dingdong
answered no and the lie detector said he was lying, making their fans in the
studio shriek with delight. Marian is very pleased with the positive feedback
from people who saw "Dyesebel" in its pilot telecast.
"When I saw the trailer pa lang and the music video of
‘Dyesebel,’ I had goose bumps na talaga," says Marian. "Wow! Ang ganda
talaga at ang galing ni Direk Joyce Bernal in conceiving all those beautiful
underwater scenes. Iba kasi when you’re taping it. Pagdating sa
screen, ibang klase talaga and it’s so nice to watch the fruits of our
labor. Nagbunga nang maganda lahat ng hirap namin sa paglangoy underwater
na may buntot. My character as Dyesebel na sobrang pilya, makulit,
very playful at ibang-iba kay Marimar na inosente naman at naive."
She’s really topless as Dyesebel but you won’t see her boobs
as they’re protected by her long tresses. "Bawal naman ang breast
exposure lalo sa primetime TV kaya imposibleng maipakita yun. Sa
shoot mismo, kakaunti din lang ang tao para maprotektahan ako, bawal ang
cameras at cellphones dahil baka kunan ang unguarded moments ko
at biglang i-circulate sa cellphones o sa internet, ‘di ba?
Wholesome ang ‘Dyesebel’ at hindi sexy show."
Which of the past "Dyesebel" films has she seen? "’Yun
lang kay Alice Dixson. Napaka-ganda niyang sirena at mahusay siyang
lumangoy. Sayang nga, I haven’t seen the other versions. But they say mas
kalog ‘yung Dyesebel ko kaysa sa previous ones."

The final guest in "Showbiz Central" was Heart Evangelista.
She was overwhelmed when various GMA-7 artists warmly greeted her to officially
welcome her as being a Kapuso, including Paolo Bediones, Rhian Ramos, Dingdong
Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Pauleen Luna, Julia Clarete, and many more. But the
biggest surprise was when after she was interviewed by host Raymond Gutierrez,
her first leading man in the Kapuso network, Richard Gutierrez, suddenly
appeared on stage to give her a bouquet of flowers and to personally greet her
for joining GMA. They are both very delighted to be given the chance to finally
work with each other. They’re leaving next week to start taping "Asero" on
location in Dubai.

Vhong Navarro is very secretive about his relationship with
Desiree del Valle, but Des herself is more open about it. She admits that
they’ve been on for two years and seven months now and their relationship
remains going strong. Before Vhong, it’ll be recalled that she was also on with
Paolo Contis, the lesbian named Ellen she reportedly married in Las Vegas, and
Luis Alandy.
How does she feel that Vhong’s marriage to Bianca Lapuz has
yet to be annulled?
"Honestly, wala akong pakialam sa annulment
proceedings as the more important thing for me is happy kaming dalawa,"
she says. "We also don’t talk na magpapakasal kami. We just focus on the
fact that we love each other."
Does she get jealous when Vhong is linked to his leading
ladies?
"No. I trust him completely. Alam kong malakas ang
appeal ni Vhong sa mga nakakasama niya because of his good sense
of humor, but I know that he is very faithful to me."
She was wearing a set of diamond necklace with earrings at
the presscon of "When Love Begins" and she says it’s a gift from Vhong.
"Kasundo ko maski dalawang anak niya and they call me
Tita Des."
She’s happy to play Anne Curtis’ "sosyal" friend in
"When Love Begins."
"We shot many scenes in Boracay so parang bakasyon na rin,"
she says. "It also gave me the chance to work with Aga Muhlach and it’s so nice
to be with him on the set as he’s so relaxed. Walang tension at all."
How did the other newcomers in the cast find Aga? "I heard
about him from my mom," says Mickey Perz. "I know he’s a big star and I’m from
nowhere so it’s scary at first. But it turned out he’s very cool to work with."
"Aga is Aga," says AJ Dee. "We have a lot of scenes together
and pantay lang ang tingin niya sa aming lahat, parang kaibigan. Para siyang
Kuya who gives us advice."
And what’s Aga’s advice to him while he’s nursing a broken
heart after his breakup with Gemma Fitzgerald? "Not to worry dahil marami raw
dyang babae sa tabi-tabi."
"Aga is a legend," says Dionne Monsanto of PBB. "Maliit pa
ko napapanood ko na siya, but when he’s on the set, he makes you feel at
ease. Parang magka-age lang kayo."

It was nomination night again in "PBB Teens Plus" last Sunday
and four teen housemates were nominated for eviction: Atenean Robi, Gentle Giant
Jolas, La Sallite Josef, and Rona from Dumaguete.
Jolas was singled out for being a lazybones who seldom helps
in their household chores, while Josef was nominated for making bad jokes that
some felt were "nakakabastos." Rona was nominated also for being
uncooperative and for often saying that she misses her mom so much. You can
start saving your favorite teen housemate now through text votes.
Meanwhile, Jolas got a big surprise party when he turned 19.
His Daddy Ike and the teen housemates led by Josef prepared sinigang for
the birthday boy, but Jolas’ own mom, Mommy Susana, dropped by to leave Jolas’
favorite chicken feet dish and a letter for him on his natal day. Kuya then
asked her to also leave a taped message in the confession room. Daddy Ike was
also called into the confession room where he was tasked to bring in Jolas’
birthday cake, which the teary-eyed Guardian said is a first for his son. Jolas
was overwhelmed with emotions upon receiving the treats from his parents. Some
of the teen housemates weren’t able to hold back their tears during the touching
moment between Jolas and Daddy Ike, with whom he had a misunderstanding before
they entered Kuya’s house.
Find out how their nominations affect Jolas, Robi, Josef and
Rona in the days to come. Watch "PBB Teens Uber," 5:30 p.m., and "PBB Teens
Primetime" after "Lobo" on ABS-CBN. Also, watch the housemates on Studio 23,
12-2 p.m. and 24/7 online via TFCNow Video Stream.

Condolences to Edu Manzano for the passing away last Saturday
of his mom, Mrs. Rosario Manzano, whom we met when the musical variety show of
Vilma Santos was still being held at the Metropolitan Theater, which she was
managing then. She was such a gracious and amiable lady she easily won the
hearts of the press people introduced to her. Her remains are at Santuario de
San Antonio in Forbes Park, with internment April 30.
Looks like it’s the season of moms passing away. Before her, the moms of
Ethel Ramos, June Torrejon (the manager of Edu), Herbert Bautista, and Vicky
(the mommy of my own two kids) also went to the great beyond. Let’s pray for the
repose of their souls. |
