Jamby asks court to
freeze aunt's will Senator not included among
Collantes' heirs
BY ASHZEL HACHERO
SEN. Maria Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal
yesterday asked the Makati Regional Trial Court to stop the
execution of the will of her billionaire aunt Consuelo "Chito"
Madrigal-Collantes.
Sen. Madrigal was not included among the
heirs.
In a nine-page opposition filed before Judge
Oscar Pimentel, Madrigal, through lawyer Ernesto Francisco Jr.,
sought the junking, for "utter lack of merit," of the
manifestation and motion filed by Enrile Teodoro, lawyer of her
late aunt.
700,000 Metro families listed
as poor found way beyond NSO figures
BY REGINA BENGCO
SOCIAL Welfare Secretary Esperanza Cabral
yesterday said her department is verifying the number of poor
families in Metro Manila that are entitled to access cards.
In an ambush interview in Cagayan de Oro
City, she said that based on a list submitted by the mayors of
the 16 cities and one town in Metro Manila, there are 700,000
poor families in the metropolis.
The figure, she said, is more than that
figure of the National Statistics Office whose survey showed
187,000 families living below the poverty line, which is defined
as having a monthly income of not more than P5,000.
PRESIDENT Arroyo on Tuesday night said
Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes
and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Bayani Fernando
are safe "for now" from the Cabinet revamp this month.
"Gilbert (Teodoro) is not part of the
secret," Arroyo told reporters in an informal interaction in
Camiguin at the residence of Camiguin Gov. Jesus Jurdin Romualdo.
When pressed further about the revamp, Arroyo
said, "No more, secret na lang."
