San Juan at a glance Facts, figures and noteworthy
achievements
San Juan has a total of 89,950 kilometers of roads; 4,930
kilometers of which are reclassified as national; 7,100 kilometers are
municipal. Most of the roads have concrete pavements and in every condition.
There are only six bridges in San Juan, all of these spanning
the river boundaries of the municipality and linking it with adjacent areas.
Only two bridges are municipal bridges, Argonne and Kalentong.
Of the 225 roads in San Juan, only six are transversed by
public utility vehicles; these are Aurora Boulevard, N. Domingo, F. Blumentritt,
Ortigas Avenue, Pinaglabanan, Santolan and M. Paterno Streets.
All types of public and private motor vehicles use Aurora
Boulevard since it is one of the main links between Marikina, Cubao and Sta.
Mesa, Divisoria and Quiapo. N. Domingo is a relatively narrow road, with an
average flow of 10,000 vehicles per day. This volume causes slow vehicle
movements along the whole stretch. Ortigas Avenue is another busy thoroughfare
used by all types of vehicles. Though the road is relatively wide, traffic is
often slow especially at the corners of EDSA – Ortigas and Santolan (Pinaglabanan)
– Ortigas.
The people of San Juan believe that progress did not happen
in the municipality by accident as it was the outcome of a choice to live a
better life. Thus a number of development projects were prioritized to cater to
the need of the people to live more comfortably while trying to cope with the
changes in the environment.
The city government gives the highest importance to
infrastructure development projects to improve the lives of its constituents,
and several millions have been allocated for the construction, rehabilitation
and improvements of several roads and bridges, buildings and drainage or flood
control system in various locations in the municipality.

and control program and winning the heart and mind of the people by upholding
transparency and accountability in dealing with them. Community Oriented
Policing System as the main program of the station in crime prevention and

community participation through crime reporting. Immediate police calls

The effort and coordination made by San Juan Police Chief
PSupt. Rodelio Balza Jocson (DSC) between the police, barangay officials and
community has developed a better working relationship and bringing more effort
and support in crime prevention and control. The conduct of police operations
and checkpoints in the strategic areas reduces the crime incident, thus includes
police visibility in business establishment and recreational areas.
The Station has seven police community precincts to cover the
whole area of municipality aimed to reduce the crime and immediately response to
any police assistance. It also addressed the immediate problem of barangays and

Police responders course and others.

situation to provide better services to the people. The station conducted police
information and education, physical fitness and inspection.

among others. The commitment of everybody will make San Juan the best place to
live and invest.
Manpower Training
The municipality has established San Juan Manpower &
Livelihood Training and consultations on livelihood courses.
The training center continuously accepts enrollees and offers
courses such as caregiver, dressmaking, tailoring, food processing, cosmetology
and reflexology. It equally urges every resident to indulge in these activities
to improve their skills or make an enviable career. It is also one way of
preventing the town’s youth from engaging in undesirable vices.
Since its inception, the center has produced graduates from
the following courses: food processing, refrigeration and air-conditioning,
cosmetology, electronics, dressmaking and caregiver. Recently they introduced
new courses such as reflexology, Swedish shiatsu and stainless welding.
Some of its graduates are, at present, working in Canada,
Taiwan and the United States while some have started their own businesses at the
comforts of their home.
For the residents to have a decent and better education, San
Juan boasts of a number of schools and educational institutions that help
increase the literacy rate of its population, especially the youth. These
educational facilities, which are situated in all barangays, consist of 28

municipal government of San Juan has adopted measures to further reach out to
the poor by making available the amenities of modern medicine at the least
possible cost. This was achieved through the construction and operation of a
municipal hospital, the San Juan Medical Center. Located at the back of the
municipal hall, it has a total floor area of 4,000 square meters.
The hospital has an initial capacity of 50 beds and
eventually expanded to 150 after it was classified as Medical Center. The
