Every mom’s late afternoon habit

"Moms"— the top-rating gabfest by mothers for mothers hosted by Lani Mercado-Revilla, Sherilyn Reyes-Tan and Manilyn Reynes-Jimenez on Q-11—rides on the crest of its success as the favorite afternoon "tambayan ng mga mommies."

For more than two years now, the show has firmly established itself as the late afternoon habit of all women from all walks of life. Many working women (and a significant number of men too) have become avid followers of "Moms" who see to it that they never fail to miss an episode.

Credited not just for its high entertainment value but also for its informative and educational content, "Moms" faces the unique challenge of living up to its role of tackling even the most sensitive and difficult subject matters concerning motherhood.

And today, the show goes through exciting changes as it unveils new segments and lines up more interesting topics that spark up invigorating conversations with exciting guests.

Bernadette Young, "Moms" program manager, explains the facelift, "We’re giving the show a fresher look in the next few weeks with a new OBB, new logo title, and new set. We’re aiming for a younger but also more sophisticated, and more modern but also homier feel. This is not just to sustain the interest of our regular viewers but to better attract a wider audience as well."

And Young bares the shows’ newest segments— "Winners," "Starting Young," "Aspire to Inspire," "In the News," "Just for Kids," and "Only in RP."

"Winners" is a segment on people making a difference in the lives of others through their special interests, hobbies and advocacies. "Starting Young" will tell the stories behind prodigies and kid achievers in the fields of the arts, sports, the sciences and academics.

There’s also "Aspire to Inspire," a segment on the amazing, awe-inspiring experiences of individuals.

Meanwhile, "In the News" features bizarre news on women’s issues and concerns from all over the world. There’s also a kiddie portion called "Just for Kids," which will tackle everything that kids love— places to go, new sports or hobbies to do, and exciting activities to try out. A segment designed to provide a more dynamic and mobile feel to the show is "Only in RP," which talks about exciting tourist destinations, festivals and other interesting events and happenings all over the country.

The hosts of the show are all excited about how "Moms" is evolving. "Indeed, we have come a long way since our first telecast in November of 2005," Lani enthuses. "Our attitude then was just to come to the taping and work. Today, we have a sense of purpose whenever we do a show."

Sherilyn agrees, "One thing really nice about the show is the fact that, as hosts, we are the first to learn from the episodes we do. There is no such thing as Life Academy or a school that teaches about love and relationships and marriage and parenting. But then, we are lucky that there is ‘Moms.’"

"For me, ‘Moms’ is a life saver," shares Manilyn. "It came at a time when my career was on a downswing and Aljon and I were seriously thinking of trying our luck elsewhere because there were very scarce opportunities here. Tapos, dumating yung ‘Moms,’ and it was just the first drop in the downpour of blessings that we received. Sa ngayon, ’Moms’ is going stronger than ever and I am very grateful."

Catch "Moms" every Monday to Friday only on Q-11.
