‘[W]e heard from a reliable source that Richard Gutierrez will most likely appear with her in her second movie.’

KC prepares
to grace the big screen

KC Concepcion left for Paris all by herself the day after she signed a three-picture contract with Star Cinema last Wednesday, April 30. She was accompanied by her talent managers, Shirley Kwan and Sandra Chavez, at the contract signing.

Present during the signing place at the Chronicle Room of the ELJCC Building were Star Cinema’s Malou Santos, managing director; Tess Fuentes, supervising producer; and Roxy Liquigan, head of promo and publicity department.

While KC refused to announce who her leading man will be in her first movie project, we heard from a reliable source that Richard Gutierrez will most likely appear with her in her second movie. It was from KC, from whom we’ve learned that Piolo Pascual will be her partner in her third movie.

Three directors who have been tapped for these three projects are Joyce Bernal, Chito Roño and Cathy Molina-Garcia.

KC said she will be away for 10 days.

Meanwhile, KC’s dad, Gabby Concepcion, was last Friday’s featured actor in the weekly ABS-CBN drama anthology, "Manibela."

The taping for the episode took three days. Gabby played a family driver. Portraying his wife was Anna Capri, who is a katulong in the same household where Gabby works. Playing their amo is Tirso Cruz III.

According to Gabby, the staff behind MMK allowed him to read three stories which were sent in by letter senders.

He chose the story of the family driver, as Gabby said their life experiences are almost the same.

Said Gabby: "Iyong tipong nararanasan na lahat ng klase na pwedeng mangyari sa isang tao. Pero, nalulusutan niya ang mga ito."

Jeffrey Jeturian directed this particular episode. Gabby recalled that when he did his first episode in MMK in 1991, Direk Jeffrey was the production designer. The episode was titled "Sinturon" and was written by now movie tabloid editor, Ronald Carballo.

How come Ali Alejandro, only son of former Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala, Hajji Alejandro, and the late Rio Diaz chose to be a band member, instead of a solo singer? Tall, flawless, kayumanggi and handsome, he could very well be a matinee idol.

In his case, Ali, a UP Fine Arts graduate, said that he did try acting. But he discovered that it’s not his lifestyle.

Ali, who has singer Rachelle Alejandro for a half-sister, used to have a band.

Ali now plays for the band, Delara, once known as Mojofly. The name Lara is a concoction of the first letter of the names of the four members: Lougee (vocals), Ali (drums), Richard (bass) and Ace (guitar).

A band of Bellhaus Entertainment, Delara has a single called "Smile," which is now heard over the radio. Their first album will be launched in the second quarter this year.

Bellhaus Entertainment is owned by Jeff Tan, son of the late recording producer, Bella Tan.

Bella’s family (her maiden surname is Dy) owns Universal Records.

Sopiz, another Bellhaus Entertain-ment’s in-house band, is a fresh breed of young and talented musicians. The group includes Catherine Go (vocals); Jordan Peralta (rhythm guitars); Glen Retamar (lead guitars); Ruel Lising, Jr. (bass) and Joji Bryle Paz (drums).

They started performing when they were high school sophomores. For a time, they fronted for major artists, like Bamboo, Side A., Orange and Lemons and the "Pinoy Big Brother" housemates.

Sopiz is preparing for their debut album.

What a small world. If you are a "Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 2" follower, you are surely familiar with Josef, one of the teen housemates in Bahay ni Kuya.

The boy, 16, is handsome, tall, although still a little bulky. He is, no doubt, star material.

Well, we learned that Josef’s dad is Butch Elizalde, guitarist of Music and Magic, formerly a group of singers which also included Kuh Ledesma, Angeli Pangilinan and Fe de los Reyes (now based abroad).

Here’s a trivia on Josef’s dad: He was the boyfriend for a time of another singer, who no longer sings, but is still very active in showbiz as a talent manager.

Clue: She’s married to a very popular singer.
