eTelecare income up 50%

eTelecare Global Solutions, Inc., the first Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) company listed in NASDAQ, yesterday reported a 50-percent increase in revenues despite what it calls are "the operational challenges" in the Philippines.

The leading provider of complex multi-shore BPO solutions reported revenues for the first quarter of $62.1 million, a $20.7 million or 50 percent increase compared to $41.4 million in the same period last year.

Income from operations amounted to $7.3 million or 12 percent of revenues, a $4.1 million or 128 percent increase compared to $3.2 million or 8 percent of revenues in the same quarter a year ago.

John Harris, eTelecare president and chief executive officer, said despite the operational challenges presented by the rapid growth of its Philippine service delivery operations and the strengthening of the Philippine peso against the US dollar, "we were able to deliver a strong financial performance."

eTelecare services are provided from delivery centers in the Philippines where it employs some 7,000 and in North America for another 3,000.
