‘Bulag ako kaya ipinaglaban ko siya sa parents ko. Pero ngayon, below the belt na ang ginawa niya. – Heart Evangelista’

Jericho was unfaithful,
says Heart

JERICHO Rosales was inteviewed by Boy Abunda in "The Buzz" about his breakup with Heart Evangelista. Earlier, he said he was the last to know and just learned about it from watching TV. But later, he said he had known about it while still in Malaysia. In "Showbiz Central," Heart (who’s in Dubai taping "Codename: Asero" with Richard Gutierrez) was interviewed live on the phone by host Raymond Gutierrez and she cried, saying a mouthful against Jericho in the course of the interview with her.

"Ang feeling ko napahiya ako," she says. "Naiiyak ako at nagagalit ako. Bakit hindi siya consistent sa sagot niya? I broke up with him on the phone. Naiiyak ako kasi sobrang sakit ng ginawa niya sa akin. Bakit siya nag-sisinungaling at pinalalabas pa niyang ako ang nagsisi-nungaling? Yes, may third party involved. There were actually two girls. One was ‘yung leading lady niya sa ‘I Love You Virus’ shot here (Brianna Evigan). Kilala ko siya for three years at sobrang laki ng ipinagbago niya nang magkakilala sila. I saw him hugging her at nakita rin ng driver ko. When I asked him about it, he denied it, but later, inamin din niya. I gave up everything for him. Bulag ako kaya ipinaglaban ko siya sa parents ko. Pero ngayon, below the belt na ang ginawa niya. Pinalalabas pa niyang he’s miserable, na siya ang kawawa. Malinaw na malinaw ang pakikipag-break ko sa kanya. I told him I want to move on. Kailangan ko nang makahanap ng taong mamahalin ako na hindi parang may itinatago at tinatanong ko sino ka ba talaga? Akala ko, kilala ko siya, ‘yun pala, hindi. Akala ko worth it siya, kaya pinaglaban ko siya. It turned out tama pala ang family ko from the start. Napahiya ako sa kanila. I don’t think I’ll ever want to talk to him again. Sana, magsabi na lang siya ng tao, huwag yung pinapaikot niya kaming lahat. Sana, maintindihan niya ang ginawa niya sa akin. Tapos na talaga kami. Okay na kami ng parents ko. May new chapter na sa buhay ko. I hope hindi niya ito gagawin sa ibang babae."

Regine Velasquez has a new show, "Songbird," part of the deal/contract she got from GMA-7 after she threatened to move to ABS-CBN. The presscon was held at Melo’s, right in front of the ABS-CBN gate on Bohol Ave. Will she still think of moving to ABS-CBN after her contract expires?

"No, na-krung krung lang ako ng konti noon," she says. "Wala na ngayon. Naisip ko nga, they even allowed me then to do ‘Maalaala’ sa ABS and the movie with Piolo which they even promoted sa GMA kahit produced ‘yun ng kabila. Naging mabait naman sa akin ang GMA, bakit pa ako lilipat?"

But obviously, her "krung krung" act worked well for her as, aside from "SOP" and "Songbird," she now also stars in the local adaptation of "Kim Sam Soon" that she has started taping.

"I’m really thankful to GMA for giving me ‘Songbird’ kasi matagal ko nang dream itong ganitong musical show," she adds. "Matagal nang walang ganito, ‘di ba? Noong araw, may ‘Sharon’, may ‘Vilma’, may ‘Manilyn’ pa nga. Ngayon lang nagkaroon uli. Nang mapanood ko nga ang first episodes that we taped, napaiyak ako kasi ang ganda ng set, high tech at world class, ang ganda ng lahat. Wow, may budget ang show. Pinagkaabalahan. Hindi napunta lahat sa talent fee ko. This is not a musical variety show, huh. Musical lang talaga featuring beautiful songs dahil late night ito, hindi ‘yung may nagpapalahaw ako."

So she won’t have her usual "birit" style? "Meron pa rin kasi tumawag na nga sa akin si Mariah Carey. Hindi raw puedeng wala siya. Pero sabi ko, friend, sa next season ka na. Actually, maraming puedeng gawin dito kasi may theme ang bawat episode kaya excited ako. We can feature songs of singers like Celine Dion and Madonna, or composers like George Canseco, Ryan Cayabyab, Rey Valera, Barry Manilow o isang Ogie Alcasid, or even Broadway songs. Each episode, I will feature one song na hindi kilala ng tao at ako lang ang nakakaalam, pero maganda, so abangan nyo ‘yun. So magko-concert na every week on TV and everyone can watch it, for free!"

"Songbird" starts airing this Thursday night, May 15, 11 p.n., replacing "ESP."

Was Iwa Moto really trying to belittle Katrina Halili’s acting talent when she doubted Katrina’s ability to do lead roles? "Actually, innocent remark lang ‘yun sa’kin when I said she’s so identified with contravida roles baka hindi niya kayang magbida," Iwa explains. "I don’t mean to antagonize her at all, pero pinalaki ng ibang tao. Ang naging dating, parang tinatawaran ko ang kakayahan niya. Buti na lang at Katrina took it goodnaturedly at hindi siya basta nagpadala sa intriga. Sabi niya, she considers it na lang a challenge para mas pagbutihin niya ang pagganap niya bilang bida sa ‘Magdusa Ka’ to prove to the viewers that she can also do lead roles equally well."

She’s reunited with Dennis Trillo in "Magdusa Ka" that starts airing this week. "Bale fourth show na namin ito together after ‘Super Twins’, ‘Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap’ and ‘Zaido’. Binibiro ko nga siyang sawa na ko sa pagmumukha niya. Sa totoo lang, masarap katrabaho si Dennis dahil very professional siya at masarap kaeksena dahil he takes his work as an actor seriously. Mahahawa ka sa dedication niya."

Her role as Katrina’s tormentor in "Magdusa Ka" is the reason why her character in "Joaquin Bordado" was killed prematurely. "I’m really thankful to GMA-7 dahil sunod-sunod ang trabaho ko sa kanila. Never akong nabakante."

She’s only runner up to Jackie Rice in "Star Struck 3," but now Jackie has faded into oblivion and she continues to be very active. "Naging pasaway rin naman ako noong araw at sabay pa nga kaming na-suspend. But I’ve since proven na nagbago na ako at seryoso na ako sa trabaho ko."

How is she and Viva Hot Babe Satchie Sanders, the ex-girlfriend of her boyfriend with whom she had a word war before? "Okay na kami. We guested in ‘All Star K.’ Singer siya, killer ako. Nakapag-usap na kami before at naayos na ang lahat. Nagbeso pa nga kami. At siya ang nanalo sa show that night. Wala namang personalan. Trabaho lang."

Her boyfriend has a five-year-old daughter. How do they get along? "Okay. Ang tingin niya sa’kin, kalaro niya ako, but she calls me Mommy. Magkasundo kami kasi mahilig naman ako sa batai. Pati ‘yung real mommy niya, na-meet ko na. Civil kami. Walang mga tarayan. Masayang buhay ko ngayon, no? Magandang career, magandang lovelife, what more can I ask for, ‘di ba?"

For the "Greatest Hits of the 80’s" concert at the Music Music this Friday and Saturday, Randy Santiago, Raymond Lauc-hengco, Gino Padilla and Louie Heredia join forces to relive that glorious era in the local music scene. Are they out to surpass the success of Rico Puno, Hajji Alejandro, Nonoy Zuñiga and Rey Valera?

"Seventies sila at ‘80s kami so we come from different periods and they have different hit songs," says Randy. "There’s no rivalry between us dahil parehong may market ang songs from those two decades."

Among them, Randy is the one who remains active, not only because of his Ratsky Bars but he continues to be seen on TV and he also directs sitcoms like the forthcoming "Parekoy" starring John Prats and Zanjoe Marudo. But Gino and Raymond have recently released new albums. Gino’s album, "Hands on Time," was even produced by no less than Sharon Cuneta herself, while Raymond released "Full Circle" from Viva that’s a tribute to the ‘80s and to his baby daughter, Natalie.

"When my wife and I got married, our plan was to enjoy each other’s company first for some years," says Raymond. "When she got pregnant, it wasn’t part of the plan and my reaction was just to sit there for six hours thinking about it. I realized when our baby came that she’s a gift from the Lord and that whatever problems you may have, they all disappear when you hold your baby, kaya mas ganado ako to perform now."
