UPCFA exhibits at Met Museum

To usher the UP centennial year, the UP College of Fine Arts and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila opened the exhibit "Artista, Dibuhista, Manlilikha: Paghubog at Pagpapahiwatig" at the Tall Galleries of the Museum where it will be on view until May 31.

The exhibit establishes the progressive turn of art and artist into the world of illustration, commercial art and design. It features the commercial works of Fernando Amorsolo and Guillermo Tolentino, among others, who were among the many who ventured into the field of advertising, published illustration, and design. Works of other artist such as Carlos "Botong" Francisco, Pablo Amorsolo, Prof. Lauro Alcala, Jess Abrera, Angel Cacnio, and Mauro Malang Santos are also on exhibit.

The exhibition was initiated by UPCFA, through the support of private collectors, individual artists and adverting companies who have lent their collection for the exhibition. The curators Prof. Joey Tañedo and Prof. Tina Colayco, Dean of the UPCFA, gathered varied works of UP faculty and students that reflect the academic history and development of the visual communications program of the university.
