The month of May is dedicated to celebrating
with the most important woman in your life and honoring
everything she does for you and your family. Treat her to that
special dinner at home.
Celebrity kids from the Disney Channel Miley
Cyrus, Kyle Massey and Sabrina Bryan know how to make their moms
feel special. Time spent in the kitchen is made more memorable
when cooking with mama. Try these special recipes cooked and
made with love in the kitchen
Miley and Tish Cyrus’
Baked Ziti
Ingredients:
1 jar marinara sauce
1 box penne pasta
1 lb lean ground beef or ground chicken
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp garlic salt
pepper to taste
Procedures:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare penne as
directed on the box. Brown the beef or chicken meat in sauté pan
and drain. In a separate bowl, combine half a jar of marinara
sauce, ricotta cheese, and garlic sauce. Then, add pasta and mix
together.
Coat the bottom of a baking dish with
marinara sauce and add pasta/cheese mix. Add the remaining sauce
and cover top with shredded mozzarella. Bake uncovered until the
top is browned, approximately 35-40 minutes.
Kyle and Angel Massey’s Grilled Chicken
Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts, skin and fat removed
3 cups low-fat Italian salad dressing
3 cloves of garlic, chopped
½ tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp seasoned salt
Procedures:
Combine dressing, garlic, Italian seasoning
and seasoned salt. Place chicken breasts in a glass dish and
completely cover with the marinade. Cover the dish and
refrigerate for an hour.
Preheat the grill. Place chicken on grill and
cook for five minutes, or until golden brown. Turn it and cook
the other side for five minutes or until thoroughly cooked.
Place chicken on clean serving dish and serve it warm.
Sabrina and Cathy Bryan’s Tropical Spinach
Salad & Dressing
Ingredients:
1 lb fresh spinach, washed, trimmed
and torn into bite size pieces
10-12 fresh mushrooms sliced
2-11 oz cans mandarin oranges
1 pint strawberries, sliced
2 sliced bananas
apples and avocados (optional)
Dressing
1 ½ cups sugar
2/3 cups vinegar
2 tsps dry mustard
2 tsps salt
3 tbsps onion juice
2 cups olive oil
3 tbsps poppy seeds
Procedures:
Combine spinach, mushrooms, mandarin oranges,
strawberries and bananas. Add dressing to taste and toss
lightly.
To make dressing: Combine sugar, mustard, salt, and vinegar
in a blender. Add onion juice and blend until smooth. Slowly add
oil, blending until thick. Stir in poppy seeds and store in
refrigerator. Serve cool. |
