classes at Maya Kitchen
Pursue a new career or learn a new skill at
the Maya Kitchen’s cooking classes. The Coffee 101 (Barista
Class) will be held from 2-6 p.m. today. This class brings
grinding, steaming and foaming session on coffee history, coffee
process, trouble shooting, machine know-how, proper grinding,
techniques to perfect froth, actual preparation of popular
traditional hot coffee concoction such as: espresso, cappuccino
and latte; cold coffee concoction and spins.
Come share an oven with a team of bakers and learn the
secrets of the fundamentals of bakery production from 2-6 p.m. on May 20-23. The
course covers basic and commercial baking techniques applicable to baking
application on the use of ready mixes, yeast, bread, quick bread, pies, cookies
and cakes are covered together with workshop exercise for commercial scale
productions. Attendees get a free baking cookbook.
Don’t miss the bartending seminar from 2-6 p.m. on May 24.
Learn bartending basics such as basic tools, classifications of wine and
spirits, types of bar glasses and usage, actual mixing and serving of popular
cocktail drinks with free pulutan.
Are you just getting by in the kitchen? The basic culinary
class from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on May 27-30 will introduce you to the essentials of
great cuisine. It covers factors in proper hygiene, sanitation and safety;
nutrition and nutritional cooking; proper mis-en-place of mirepoix, stocks,
soups, sauces, marinades, use of herbs and spices combinations, proper
purchasing, storage, techniques of disjointing and boning poultry, filleting
fish and meat fabrication. Actual preparation of dishes from appetizer to
dessert including garnishing for plate presentation is also included.
