2 storms seen bringing more rains


LUZON and the Visayas are expected to experience more rains as two storms are in the Philippine area of responsibility, the weather bureau said yesterday.

"Cosme" was spotted 395 km west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro at 2 a.m. yesterday with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move north at 7 kph.

This afternoon, Cosme is expected to be 100 km southwest of Dagupan City, 70 km east of Aparri, Cagayan tomorrow, and 590 km northeast of Basco, Batanes on Monday.

Cosme will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over Luzon and Western Visayas.

Residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take precautions against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Storm "Dindo" was spotted 680 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move northeast at 30 kph.

Areas under signal No. 1 are Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Abra, La Union and Ilocos Sur.
