New twists in Studio 23’s hit shows

NEW twists and changes are introduced in the new season of "The Amazing Race 12," which premiered on Studio 23 last Nov. 5 at 9 a.m.

The Emmy-award winning reality competition series brings together 11 teams who travel about 30,000 miles around the world for about 30 days including Ireland, Lithuania, Croatia, and five countries never before visited on the Race.

"The countries are very exotic. We’re going to places that I don’t even know where they are on the map," said executive producer Jonathan Littman. "We have a tough group of teams. They’ll be younger but we still have a good balance."

Each couple engages in mental or physical challenges at every destination and those who are farthest behind will be gradually eliminated as the contest progresses. The first team to arrive at the final destination wins the grand prize of $1 million.

Regular primetime telecast of TAR 12 is on Sundays, 7:30 p.m., after "Kid Nation" on Studio 23 starting Nov. 11. Meanwhile, Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) is back in the second season of the comedy hit "Ugly Betty" starting Tuesday, Nov. 6, 9:30 p.m.

Betty’s life is in chaos after a series of very unfortunate events, and after all that’s happened, she’s still in denial about one thing - how much Henry’s departure has affected her. Amanda (Becki Newton), on the other hand, found out that Fey Sommers was her real mother, And Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams) schemes to turn the tragic Meade family events to her advantage.

Aside from these two newly in synched US shows, Studio 23 also premiered the second season of the hit thriller "Supernatural" last Nov. 2, 8:30 p.m., and the hit paranormal drama series "Ghost Whisperer" last Nov. 4, 9:15 p.m.
