DLSU-D named
eco-friendly university

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) is known for its efforts in helping advocacies for saving the planet. In fact, it has recently been awarded the Dark Green Status by the Environmental Education Network of the Philippines.

DLSU-D once again proved that it is indeed Cavite’s premier university when the Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Environmental Management Bureau, Commission on Higher Education, and Smart Communications named DLSU-D as the regional winner in the recent "Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools 2009."

DLSU-D’s instruction, research, extension and/or administration were evaluated whether environmentally-related programs were initiated and effectively integrated. After receiving the award, DLSU-D President Br. Augustine Boquer FSC said, "With or without recognition, we will take care of the environment to keep it green, clean, and healthy."

The nationwide search gives schools the opportunity to be recognized for their valuable efforts in implementing environment-related programs. Further, it is a part of the DENR’s response to Republic Act 9512 (An Act to Promote Environmental Awareness through Environmental Education) which requires all public and private schools to integrate environmental education in their curricula at all levels.
