Panglao is considered a world-renowned site of Marine Life Bio-Diversities because of its newly discovered marine species.

It also forms part of the tourism cluster under the Philippine Tourism Master Plan and the Super Region development strategy of the government.

Based on the current Bohol tourism master plan up to 2010, Bohol tourism arrivals are expected to grow an average annual growth rate of 15 percent thus requiring more high-quality rooms.

Demand for higher quality rooms is expected to increase from over 850 units to 1,500 by that time.
