With almost four decades of sport history at
its foundation, Nike Sportswear seeks to channel the genuine
rebel spirit of Nike's roots by crafting products that challenge
the expected, asking designers to push athletic innovation to
its extreme, remixing iconic designs with new technologies and
making the best product for today's needs.
The line's creative director Richard Clarke
describes this interplay as an endless remix that never loses
sight of Nike's mission to innovate: "We do go back in time to
revisit some of Nike's best products," Clarke says, "But we
always keep one foot firmly at the forefront of technology and
innovation to maintain performance for our athletes."
This year, Nike revolutionizes the iconic
Nike Sportswear line. 080808 is an iconic moment in sports and
for Nike Sportswear, the creative direction is coming from the
same source as everything else Nike does: sports. In celebration
of the Beijing Olympics, Nike launched the Nike Sportswear 2008
collection with 8 of its most iconic designs: Air Max 90, Air
Force One, AW 77, Dunk, Sportswear Tee, Cortez, Eugene track
jacket and Windrunner, taking the classic designs and remixing
them with new technologies to fit the needs of today's
lifestyles.
To launch the Nike Sportswear 2008 collection
in the Philippines Nike staged a special retail installation in
Gateway Mall, Cubao where Nike aficionados, sneakerheads and
fashion mavens can view and experience the collection. The
installation store will be up until Sunday.
"Nike takes pride in being a brand that's deeply rooted in
sports. By remastering the Nike Sportswear 2008 line, we're
focusing on blending our sports heritage with new design
innovation for consumers," said Mae Dichupa, Nike Philippines
country marketing manager "The end goal of each design is to
create the best product and to bring innovation and inspiration
to every athlete in the world, whether on the field or off and
what better way to launch this line than to set up the Nike
special retail installation at the heart of the venue of one of
the Philippines' major sporting event, the UAAP Season 71 here
in Cubao," adds Dichupa.
