FIVE operatives of the Criminal Investigation
and Detection Group who served an arrest warrant on Malaya
publisher Amado "Jake" Macasaet for libel Thursday are now
facing pre-charge investigation for failing to follow standard
operating procedures in the service of arrest warrants.
As part of standard procedures, operatives or
units that get hold of a copy of an arrest warrant should first
accomplish a pre-operations clearance which will be approved and
signed by the CIDG chief before they can serve the warrant.
This is required so that the CIDG chief and
other officials are informed of the operation in a bid to
prevent extortion by the warrant servers.
