The year's best dressed
come out for charity

 

One of the most awaited fashion event-cum-fundraising affairs of the year draws near with the presentation of the 2008 Best Dressed Women of the MONDAY |SEPTEMBER 15, 2008 | PHILIPPINES, an annual recognition of the women who "epitomize the ultimate Filipina, possessing beauty, poise, grace and a desire to serve the needy.

Behind all the glitz and glamor of this grand event is the organization's advocacy of prevention, dedication, and awareness of cancer. Now on its fifth year, the search has raised millions for the projects of the Philippine Cancer Society.

It will be held on September 23 at the Makati Shangri-la Rizal ballroom. This much-awaited charitable event relies on the generosity of donors, benefactors and volunteers to sustain the PCS's mission. "By challenging ourselves with lofty but attainable goals year after year and the drive to serve and become much more passionate, I'm truly privileged and deeply honored to be a part of this yearly endeavor. The fight for cancer is a battle for life. This grand event is not just about fashion and glamor, it's about seeing things in a deeper perspective, it's about the chance to make a difference," says Consul Helen Ong, event chair.

Showcasing the finest collections of the country's top designers, the affair will benefit the PCS's various programs in the areas of advocacy, research and patient services. Organized by the PCS, the fund raising event is led by PCS chair Dr. Roberto Paterno, honorary chair Imelda Ongsiako-Cojuangco, Consul Helen Ong, co-chair Gerry Contreras and committee members Consul Fortune Ledesma, Asia's Fashion Czar Pitoy Moreno, Jayelles president Roselle Rebano and Johnny Litton.
